The Taiwan-based HTC Corp.’s flagship device, HTC One, was awarded ‘Best Smartphone 2013‘ by GSM Association (GSMA) – beating competition from the LG G2, iPhone 5S and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The judges announced the winner of the coveted accolade presented at the 19th Global Mobile Awards at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in Barcelona.
According to the judges, HTC one won the award because it remained one of the most advanced smartphones throughout 2013, as quoted from mirror.uk.
“Its great design and excellent user interface continue to provide a differentiated user experience, standing out from the competition”, they added.
After collecting the award, Peter Chou, chief executive officer for HTC said, “We’re incredibly proud that the HTC One continues to be recognised as a game-changing smartphone, with its sleek design, superior audio and impressive functionality. Winning yet another international award for the HTC One proves that the device has taken the mobile experience to a new level and continues to set HTC apart from the competition. We’re looking forward to building on this success with more incredible innovation planned for the coming months”.
